Overview

Stanford School of Earth & Sciences requested to have its business and digital identity aligned, bringing innovation & tradition to their multiple audiences, creating a consistent online experience.

This project resulted in an increase of course enrollment and website visits. Stanford Earth was recognized with industry awards for its innovative design, and now serves as a model for Stanford University’s online presence.

From requirements gathering, to strategy and brand adaptation in digital space, I led the team in information architecture, wireframing, visual design, and prototyping.

Working with stakeholders, developers, and a project manager to devise solutions for an interactive, easy-to-navigate design that reflected the institution’s academic mission.

Creating the Experience

Identifying key needs and trends in different types of audiences, being able to trace patterns of interests and creating an ecosystem where appealing content can connect users in many different ways. This was accomplished by:

  • Exploring their current website,
  • Conducting a content and structure audit,
  • Visiting the facility (Stanford School, Labs, Farm),
  • Interviewing stakeholders, students and staff members.

Branding & Visual Assets

The original branding was taken into account before creating any visuals. This helped us to create a set of flexible yet consistent elements with a refreshed foundation to be used across the website, which would be easy to recognize and navigate.

Experiencing the School

Showcasing the School’s cutting-edge educational technologies in the classroom, the website is tailored to business needs and relatable to what the audience is looking for.

The new website invites users to learn more about school’s offerings, and learn more about its cutting-edge educational technologies in the classroom, field trips, events and student life through visual stories.

  • Bringing relevant information in bite size format;
  • Inviting users to learn more by showcasing the school's offerings and course routines;
  • Modern visuals, lightweight and decluttered layouts;

Adaptable & customizable

With a flexible collection of templates for desktop and mobile devices, the design allows  elements customization and page creation new pages in the back end, being true to the Stanford brand, and able to adapt to a variety of screen sizes.
